The plot thickens in the Formula One world. After yesterday Ferrari made its decision and announced it "does not intend to enter its cars in the next Formula 1 World Championship,” should the International Automobile Federation not revise the budget cap proposal, today is Renault's turn to do the same.
In an yet unconfirmed report posted by reppublica.it, Renault is expected to make public their decision in an official release sometimes today. Still, according to the same source, Renault has not yet completely turned its back on the 2010 season.
Should Renault follow the same path as Ferrari did yesterday, the pressure on the International Automobile Federation could reach unforeseeable levels. Especially because, as the source says, Renault, Ferrari, BMW, Mercedes and Toyota supposedly plan to create a parallel competition to the F1.
Apart from the two, Toyota, BMW and Red Bull racing have also threatened to leave the 2010 season, even if their stands were somewhat moderate and did not sound as much as an ultimatum. As for FIA, all of the teams await an official decision from the governing body in the following weeks.
Until an official statement is made by Renault, we will remind you how Ferrari motivated its decision yesterday.
“The same rules for all teams, stability of regulations, the continuity of the FOTA's endeavors to methodically and progressively reduce costs, and governance of Formula 1 are the priorities for the future. “If these indispensable principles are not respected and if the regulations adopted for 2010 will not change, then Ferrari does not intend to enter its cars in the next Formula 1 World Championship.”
