The use of EVs has been promoted in South America by the Alliance, an understanding based on agreements between Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Puerto Rico and Mexico in an effort to evaluate the performance of the vehicles under constant usage, while also attempting to preserve the quality of the environment and improve the quality of life in the city.
In-keeping with the theme of the Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, taking place in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, the official transportation for the venue will be assured by a fleet of Renault-Nissan EVs, and namely, the Fluence ZE, Kangoo ZE and Nissan’s Leaf. More than 50,000 participants are expected to take part in the venue, so the cars will have their work cut out for them.

Renault’s Fluence Zero Emissions (ZE) is already operational in a few places around the world, like Israel, where the need for charging has been done away with, with the help of a few battery swapping stations. The Nissan Leaf is selling well and their numbers around the world are steadily increasing and the acceptance rate of EVs is definitely and unequivocally on the rise.
