Renault Fluence ZE Prices for Denmark Announced

And so it begins... French manufacturer Renault has finally decided it's time to enter the brave new world of the electric vehicle with the launch, together with partner Better Place, of the Fluence ZE in Denmark, one of its initial test markets (the second one being Israel).

To mark the moment, Renault and Better Place opened what is to become Europe's first Better Place center, in Copenhagen. The place is a mix of both old fashioned car dealership and a brand new way to experience this type of motoring. Teams of people from both Renault and Better Place will give the visitors and potential customers an initiation into electric vehicles, with several Fluence models on the scene for test drives.

Back to the vehicle itself, the Fluence ZE. Prime Time, as the first batches of the model will be known, will be offered in Denmark for 205,000 DKK (EUR27,490) including VAT. Renault's partner will also be offering five fixed-price packages for those who plan buy the vehicles, based on kilometers driven.

For those who clock more than 40.000 kilometers per year, Better Place offers a package of “all you can drive kilometers” for 2.995 DKK (EUR399) per month. For those who drive less than 20.000 kilometers per year, the monthly price ranges from 1.495 DKK (EUR199) to 1.895 DKK (EUR249).

For all subscriptions, a one-time fee of 9.995 DKK (EUR1.341) for the installation of a private charge spot is to be paid.

The Fluence ZE is powered by an electric motor that develops 95 horsepower and 226 Nm of torque. It comes equipped with a lithium-ion battery that ensures a range of 160 km. There are three recharging modes available: standard (takes between four and eight hours), quick (around 20 minutes) and the Quickdrop rapid battery exchange system (three minutes).

"Today is a great day for Renault," said Philippe Klein, EVP, Planning and Programmes at Renault. “Denmark is a very important market for Renault, thanks to strong environmental consciousness and positive public policy in favor of clean vehicles. Fluence Z.E. will be the first electric car with virtually no range limit, thanks to the ability to switch the battery in the Better Place stations.”

The Fluence ZE-Better Place combined experience will begin in the fourth quarter of the year, when the first cars will land in Denmark.
