BMW has given their sporty Z4 a mild mid-life makeover for the 2013 model year, and aside from some minor cosmetic and trim changes, the biggest news is the addition of a new engine to the range. However, if you were hoping for a new range topper, you will be gravely disappointed, as the new engine is a 2.0-liter unit, with turbocharging, which only makes 154 hp and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque.
These figures are enough to push the sDrive18i from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 7.9 seconds, before topping out at 220 km/h (137 mph). These figures make it slower than pretty much any sporty two-door car out there, and even some much cheaper alternatives are quicker. One of the advantages of the limited power, if it can be called that, is this car’s low fuel consumption figures, as the car has a claimed average figure of 6.8 l/100km or 41.5 UK mpg.

There is little to differentiate the 2013 Z4 from the car it replaces, but those with a keen eye will notice new headlights with integrated LED DRLs, while the car also gets new-design alloys as well as various new pieces of exterior and interior trim.

The revised car also gets the option of a Design Pure Traction styling pack, which adds orange and black plastic trim to the interior of the car, which also gets new gloss black trim around the air vents and iDrive selector surround. Leather is now offered as standard on the sDrive28i and above.
