BMW Motorrad announces the figures for Q2 2013 and the financial data for the first 6 months of the year.
For the second quarter of 2013, BMW Motorrad recorded a 15.9% increase in revenue over the same quarter of 2012, but a decrease in profits before financial result (EBIT). The EBIT went down a bit, some 4.2 percent. Worldwide sales were very good, as no less than 40,209 BMW motorcycles reached new customers, a hefty 15.5% hike compared to the past year second quarter.
In the longer run, BMW Motorrad fared extremely nice in the first 6 months of the year. Revenues went up by 6.2%, with an EBIT 14.1% higher than the one in the first semester of 2012 and 13.1% higher profits before tax.
The sales volumes for this period reached a new all-time record for the period, 9.7% higher sales figures than what BMW Motorrad dealers around the world recorded for the first six months in 2012: 64,941 units compared to 59,189.
In the US BMW sold 1,346 units in July, a hefty 31.1% hike from the 1,027 bikes sold in the same month last year. The strong July sales manage to keep the US sales a nifty 21% better than last year's figures, while the demand of C650GT maxi-scooters is still outstripping the supply.
