Raser PHEV Developer Hits Ex-GM Executives Quads

Raser Technologies, an U.S. energy technology company which is developing a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) program fro fleet trucks, announced that it has hired four former General Motors executives to lead its project.

"We are excited to make the announcement and welcome these very talented senior engineers and Executives to the Raser team," said Kraig Higginson, Chairman of Raser. "These men have an impressive background in the automotive industry and proven track records for getting things done."

Leading the fresh team is David J. Stenson as Chief of Operation’s for Raser’s Transportation Division. Stenson will report directly to Higginson. The company also hired former GM executives Nicholas Zielinski, Joseph R. Katona and William G. Shikany. All four executives will be based in Detroit, Michigan. The new team will have the initial aim to build demonstration plug-in extended range electric trucks, including two scheduled to be delivered to the Pacific Gas and Electric Company.

Stenson has 29 years of automotive experience at GM, where he held multiple key positions, including Chief Technical Officer for Hummer, Executive Director of Global Engineering Design and Release, Chief Engineer of GM de Mexico and Vehicle Line Director, Pontiac Solstice.

Zielinski has over 36 years experience in General Motors product development with 30 years in Chassis systems and powertrain integration. He will serve as Raser’s Chief Engineer for Electric Vehicle Programs.

Katona served GM for 36 years, with his most recent position being Director of Vehicle Architecture. The executive will be Raser's Director of Engineering Validation, Build and Test.

Shikany was with GM for over 34 years. Most recently, he was GM’s Global Technical Lead Director for Restraint Systems. He will fill in the Director of Vehicle Engineering Operations position.

James Spellman, Vice President of Engineering at Raser, who directer the development of the Electric Hummer H3, will continue leading the component R&D actions for the company.
