With only 100 units of the car ever built, the Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG Coupe is one of the rarest three-pointed star models in recent history, so catching one up close and personal while car spotting with your handy cam is a pretty big deal, we would assume.
This is exactly what happened to YouTube user Cossie670, who recently spotted an impeccable-looking variant of the limited edition model.
Built in honor of Mercedes-AMG winning the 2003 Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTM) championship title, the CLK DTM AMG road car is powered by a version of the supercharged 5.4-liter V8 that could even be found in the mighty SLR McLaren.
Slightly-detuned for the CLK DTM AG, the V8 still developed 582 hp and a gargantuan 800 Nm (590 lb ft) of torque, enabling the car to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standing start in just 3.9 seconds.
Its top speed was electronically-limited to 320 km/h (199 mph), while the meaty tires were shoeing 19 inch light-alloy rims in the front and 20 inch rims in the rear, making for a pretty aggressive overall look for the car.
Obviously, the aggressiveness also came courtesy of a wide AMG bodykit that harked to the racing version of the car, which had won the 2013 DTM championship driven by the legendary Bernd Schneider.
Apart from the 100 units of the model built in 2004, Mercedes-AMG also built 80 units of a CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet variant in 2006, both types being largely purchased by special order only, so seeing one in public is bound to be a pretty cool experience for just about anyone.
