Rally Jordan Announces Changes for 2011 WRC Event

A lot of World Rally Championship events this year will bring something new to the table, and the 4th round of the 2011 campaign, Rally Jordan, makes no exception from this trend. According to an official statement released by the rally organizers, the route for 2011 will feature some exciting new changes aimed at providing the WRC pack with “fresh challenges.”

The route has taken all the best aspects of 2010 and added some fresh challenges for the teams. The previous two events have received glowing reports from the WRC family and we are working hard to ensure this year’s event is even bigger and better,” said Clerk of the course Randa Nabulsi in the statement.

The first addition to the new Rally Jordan route is the Ma'in stage, featuring some very twisty characteristics and an interesting itinerary from below sea level to approximately 600 meters above. Also, the unique Dead Sea stage is back on for 2011, featuring the lowest point on Earth and most likely to comprise a couple of spectacular jumps this year.

As in previous years, the rally will use the King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre as headquarters and media base, while the city of Jerash will host the ceremonial start of the rally on April 14. As far as the Rumman Forest stage is concerned, that particular region of the rally was taken out for the 2011 event in order to “ease the pressure on drivers, spectators and media reaching the early stages.

The 2011 Rally Jordan in the WRC will coincide with the FIA’s Middle East Rally Championship round in Jordan. However, the latter championship will take a different route in Days 2 and 3 of the rally.
