Ralf Schumacher Denies Shoulder Surgery Reports

Ralf Schumacher denied the allegations according to which he had underwent surgery on his shoulder last month. A reports issued by Germany's publication Express last week suggested that the 34-year old had injured his shoulder while skiing in Austria.

However, according to the same source, Schumacher tried to keep things secret, as he is one of the drivers who is linked with a Formula One seat for the upcoming season of the series. Needless to say, an injury so big would definitely bring his chances of making an F1 return to zero, which is why only his close ones had to know about the surgery.

It all came out during the “Ball des Sports” gala two weekends ago, when Ralf almost fell down a flight the stairs when making his appearance at the event. Even after the reports about his surgery became public in the Express, he did not immediately deny it, but waited until this weekend.

“I know nothing about it. I have merely bruised my shoulder and had no operations,” Schumacher was quoted as saying by the GMM news agency, with Mercedes-Benz backing their DTM works driver soon after that: “We believe our driver.”

Surgery or no surgery, Schumacher's chances of returning to the Great Circus are now linked only with Stefan GP, the Serbian team that is yet to receive an entry to the 2010 Formula One Championship. In case they do make it to the Bahrain GP grid, Schumacher and Kazuki Nakajima are the drivers most likely to complete the drivers' lineup for the Cologne based team.
