Ralf Schumacher Blames Red Bull for Letting Webber Win

Having raced during an era in which team orders were practically a commonly used technique in order to secure Formula One titles – and his brother Michael has never denied it – Ralf Schumacher doesn't have too many good positive comments regarding the way Red Bull is currently conducting business in F1.

According to the former Williams & Toyota driver, Christian Horner made a big mistake letting Mark Webber win his first race in the series. Although he reckoned it was the right call sportingwise, the DTM driver argued the decision will only make it harder for the Milton Keynes team to pick a single drive for the championship title.

The German admitted he considers Vettel as the main driver for the job, but with Webber closing in at only 1.5 points in the overall standings, the decision to support “the next Schumacher” for the remainder of the 2009 season is no longer viable. And having two teammates battling for the title and taking points off of each other is no way to win the title, as demonstrated by McLaren a couple of years ago.

There are no team orders at Red Bull, where the sport is in the foreground. But at a team that is competing for the world championship, that is actually an error. Sebastian is the stronger driver and he should be collecting every point he can,” the 34-year old was quoted as saying to German newspaper Bild.

On the other hand, it was Webber's first win after many years in formula one and they didn't want to take it away from him. In a sporting sense that is certainly right, but (it was) an error with regards to the title,” added Ralf.
