Racing Overtake in Style

The main goal of racing, regardless of its type, nature and cars used, is to finish the race in front of everybody else. In a perfect world, one would start the race from first position and end it in the first position, killing in the process everything that makes a race what it is.

Luckily, we don't live in a perfect world, meaning that any given racer has to work for the win. In racing drivers' language, “work” means passing the other cars so that they see the chequered flag a fraction of a second after you've seen it.

Passing in racing is taught perhaps just as much as driving techniques, braking, cornering and sprinting. Trained pilots still need years to learn when it's the right time to pass and most importantly, where the pass should be made: on the inside or on the outside.

We are pretty sure though nobody in the racing world on purpose envisioned passing the competition by... flying over them. Until this guy...

It all went down during a race at the Courses de Bazous track in St Ferdinand, Quebec this weekend, during a car race on a motocross circuit. At one point, a group of cars approaches a sizeable bump in the road and jump, one after another, to continue the race after they've landed.

The driver of the last car of the group has other plans however, and decides to cut in between the two cars in front. The single way to do that on this type of track is by flying over the car in front...

For the record, we don't believe this was intentional...
