The movie scene below is most likely appealing to more than dirt bike lovers and die-hard off-roaders. We guess that people who still like classic/retro motorcycles will also like such two-wheeled action as well. However, it's not because of nostalgia we decided to show you this short video.
Even though the scrambler culture was only crystallizing on the late '60s and in the '70s, the approach riders had back in the day was more focused on actual riding than on showing off. Especially in Europe, motorcycles had a very strong functional character, and people used them almost year-round for commuting, traveling and fun.
The idea of showing off, when present, was also linked to how well people could actually ride their bikes. The motorcycles themselves were nothing more than the tools bold riders needed to stand from the crowd.
This 1970s movie shows what scramblers were about, with people not afraid of taking a small fall every now and then, not bothered by all the mud and dirt sprayed on their clothes and bikes, and 100% focused on riding hard and getting ahead.
Today's scramblers are still capable of tackling forest trails, puddles, muck and similar terrain, and some of them are even more fun, thanks to their powerful engines, better suspensions, tires and all. Not sure whether a BMW R nineT Scrambler would be as agile in the mud as the green Kawasaki, and we just have to agree with those who say that proper scramblers also need to be as light as they get.
