Moto Guzzi is doing a great job extending their range with more bikes derived from the V7 II platform, and the Stornello is one of the additions to the family.
There is nothing groundbreaking about the 2016 Moto Guzzi V7 II Stornello in terms of engineering, as the model relies more on add-ons to make things look good and feel the right way.

Moto Guzzi most likely wanted to capitalize on the idea of fun, as Stornello is the name of small Italian folk poems and songs consisting of three verses, all ending in the same rhyme. The scramblerized V7 II platform certainly looks playful and sporty, so the entire concept is as solid as it gets.

The V7 II receives a flat saddle for two-up rides, serrated rider pegs, and strong aluminum levers. Polished metal number plates and fenders are also part of the game, and their grey shine is a perfect match for the Arrow exhaust and a neat complement for the racing red frame color.

Harking back to the '70s, yet packing modern-day electronics

The new Stornello retains massive classic design cues from the Moto Guzzi past, and is more of a limited edition tribute to the glory of yore.

Don't expect a machine with blistering performance specs, as the Moto Guzzi V7 II Stornello is more about the vibe. The 744cc engine delivers 49 horsepower at 6,700 rpm, with 59.6 Nm (44 lb-ft) of torque at 3,250 revs per minute.

Brembo brakes, ABS, the 6-speed gearbox introduced last year and traction control are also on the standard equipment list, as are the embroidered seat, rubber knee pads on the tank and blacked-out swingarm, forks, and rims. The beefy front tire may feel okay on packed earth but rocky terrain may be a problem.

All in all, a good-looking bike with a strong retro vibe and a cool livery that will make heads turn. More news on price and availability to follow.
