PTR Romania Signs Robert Muresan for 2011 WSS

Although Romania is yet to become a feeder country for world motorcycle racing series out there, Performance Technical Racing has taken up the challenge to set their base in the country, hoping to attract local investors into expanding the team's programme in the World Supersport Championship.

According to team manager Simon Buckmaster, the former Performance Technical Racing squad will split into two divisions, as follows: Parkalgar Honda (based in the UK) and PTR Romania, obviously based in the Southeastern European country. And in order to attract some important sponsorship in the months to come, PTR Romania has already signed the highest-ranked rider in the country, Robert Muresan.

Muresan will therefore compete for the first time on a full-time campaign in the World Supersport Series, a championship in which he contested in selected events through the 2009 season. Until that year, he had competed in back-to-back 125cc campaigns in the FIM Road Racing championship. In 2011, he will join former MotoGP rider James Ellison.

Romania does not have any team or rider competing at the top of the World Championships. Our aim is to change that,” said Buckmaster.

We are setting up PTR Romania to cater to the performance motorcycle market and bring our class leading tuning service to the country. We have identified a young talented rider from Romania to take to World Championship success, his name is Robert Muresan.”

It is critical for us to expand into Romania and that means nurturing a local racer to the very top, something we have a proud record of achieving. We are working with Romanian business and partners to develop this project and are looking forward to putting Romania on the map of World Championship motorcycle racing.”
