Unfortunately for American pony and muscle car enthusiasts, the choice for 2024 has slimmed down tremendously from exactly four nameplates to a single one – at least for now.
The S650 seventh generation 2024 Ford Mustang is keeping the banner up for the first part of the year now that Chevrolet's Camaro, along with Dodge's Charger and Challenger, have ceased production. All three of them retired in December 2023, but only the Charger has a chance to redeem itself with a new generation that's returning to the two-door fastback lifestyle.

It's also going to sport various EV powertrains alongside rumored 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six turbo mills. Don't hold your breath for the Challenger's return, though; the Camaro also doesn't have a successor planned, although Chevy promised this is not the end of the road for the iconic model. No worries, the remaining 'Maros have a long lifespan – when people don't mistreat them, that is.

Well, that certainly wasn't the case with this beautiful Chevy Camaro equipped with a ProCharger package that went racing for a bit of 65-mph roll start fun at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. Also known as The Tricky Triangle, this superspeedway allows for incredible speeds on its straight line – thus making it the perfect fit for a bit of top-speed partying.

The good folks over at the racing-focused ImportRace channel on YouTube love drags at Island Dragway but sometimes also enjoy some rolls at Pocono Raceway, and that's precisely what happened here with the ProCharged Camaro as the main star of the show. First, it worked its way up the chain of command with help from another retired nameplate – a yellow Audi TT RS was narrowly beaten by the green GM monster.

The roaring Chevy then had to fight against a GM peer – a Corvette Z06 that developed a complex of top-speed inferiority. Oh well, maybe a vintage Supra would do the trick next. Ahem, it didn't fare any better than the other two, but it did manage to get the Camaro so heated that it 'exploded' in a cloud of smoke at the end of the pass. Unfortunately, it looked like a mechanical problem, so it's possible that the euphoria of a third straight victory was short-lived.

Anyway, as far as Chevrolet is concerned, the Camaro is on vacation for now, and it's time to fully concentrate on the fate of the glorious C8 Corvette sports car. Starting from $68,300, America's sports car is currently available in Stingray, Z06, and E-Ray format – the latter two starting from $112,700 and $104,900, respectively. Next up, the C8 Corvette ZR1 is scheduled to arrive later this year, complete with 850 ponies, according to the rumor mill. By the way, this time around, this won't be the series' flagship because a potential Zora-branded supercar is also rumored with hybrid oomph and about 1,000 hp to make it a rival of the all-new Lamborghini Revuelto.
