The first generation Toyota 4Runner raised its reputation on its removable top and off-road capabilities despite the low power it was providing. But if you still like it now, that can be changed with some right parts and elbow grease.
Ray Reser is an off-road fan and a Toyota 4Runner one too, so he thought one day how nice would it be to have that 80’s DNA combined with some nice add-ons to make for a SuperRunner.
With that on his mind, Ray went to Stoffregen Motorsports and told them exactly how his 4Runner needs to be. So now it has a 1GR-FE 4-liter V6 from the actual 4Runner with a Mustang throttle body and Adaptronic ECU, all mated to a RA60F six-speed manual gearbox.
Off-roading capabilities got further enhanced by using a dual gear-driven with Inchworm adapter transfer case, custom front and rear axles, Off-Road Solutions front coilovers, Skyjacker springs at the rear, huge wheels and a lot more neat things.
