Portland to Host TTXGP Round in 2011

The City of Portland has been referred to as one of the most environmentally friendly or "green" cities in the world, so it was only natural it would be considered as a perfect venue for the most popular zero-emission motorcycle racing series, the eGrandPrix. So that the city is to host a round of the TTXGP Championship this summer.

TTXGP will be racing alongside OMRRA, (Oregon Motorcycle Road Racing Association) on July 16 - 17 in Portland.

"Hosting an international championship race, especially one focused so firmly on the future, is very exciting to OMRRA. It aligns with our club goal of expanding the appeal of 2-wheeled competition. And it seems a special fit with the state of Oregon, where a progressive approach to the environment and transportation is deeply engrained,"
said Chris Page, Board member of OMRRA. "Racing has a long history of accelerating the development of new vehicles. OMRRA is very happy to play a small role in that, helping the TTXGP and its riders and sponsors test and prove the viability of electric motorcycles."

Portland has successfully grown and attracted a large number of sustainable businesses and provides a perfect backdrop for TTXGP. Moreover, Portland's Mayor Sam Adams has been a long time supporter of sustainable industries.

"I am very pleased to bring the TTXGP event to Portland,"
said Mayor Adams. "The technology involved in these electric motorcycles and the speeds at which they travel are truly impressive. TTXGP has a worldwide following and hosting this event will showcase Portland, our commitment to electric vehicles and our commitment to build the world's most sustainable city to a global audience. I look forward to seeing these bikes in action."
