Porsche Took Home Nurburgring Victory With 911 GT3 RSR

Porsche has proven it still has the right stuff, winning its fifth Nurburgring 24 Hours endurance race in six years. In front of over 220,000 spectators a 911 RSR from Team Manthey took the chequered flag after a grueling but exciting race.

Porsche works drivers Marc Lieb (Germany), Timo Bernhard (Germany), Romain Dumas (France) as well as Lucas Luhr (Switzerland) won the 39th running of the long distance classic, which is also the third leg of endurance Le Mans endurance racing.

Over the duration of race, the 911 RSR lapped the circuit 156 times in total for a total specific distance of 3,958.968 kilometers, some 2,560 miles.

Despite being handicapped for the race, the orange and white Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid also gave an impressive performance. The racer finished 28th overall due to a damaged flange and later, a bump from another driver that sent the car into a spin.

A BMW 3 GT came a close second, finishing just 4 seconds behind the Porsche, while pair of Audi R8s took third and fourth.
