← Continued from Page 3 of "Porsche Roadshow 2013: Test Driving Porsche's Range"We’re back on the stretch of highway that leads to the city now. Together with my dear colleagues in a 911 Carrera 4S Cabrio, we discover that this and the Panamera Turbo have surprisingly close in-gear acceleration times.
But let’s not talk about such guilty pleasures. It’s the end of the day and, as the walkie-talkies confirm, I wasn’t the only one thinking about how it would be to turn the car around and head for the seaside for a second day.
As I park the car in front of the Porsche showroom, a lot of thought rush through my mind. Driving so many Porsche models back to back teaches you a lot of things about how the German carmaker sets up his vehicles.
For example, you can tell that the Panamera Turbo has a playful, speed-orientated character just by its throttle map and pedal consistency. On the other hand, the Cayenne Turbo S will never leave its aristocratic aura behind. Thus, it refuses to use its 550 hp to send instant shocks through the car, offering a more delicate approach even in the Sport mode.
By the way, this showroom I’ve been mentioning is the reason for which these cars are here. They were brought to inaugurate its launch and we’re talking about Porsche Pipera, a facility that brings together Porsche, Audi, Bentley and Lamborghini. EUR15 million ($19.6M) were needed to built the luxury dealership, which is located in Bucharest, Romania. The investment assured the fact that it is the largest of its kind in South Eastern Europe.
The sliding doors close slowly behind me as I exit and I'm thinking that twelve hours spent in the refined aroma of Porsche leather should make me rejoice. But how on Earth can I be happy when they basically gave me a car that I had to return and introduced me to a beautiful girl who’s married?
