Porsche Pilot Performs Beautiful Choreography on the 'Ring

When you see a race-ready Porsche 911 (991) drive around the Nurburgring, you can bet it's not that guy's first time out on a track.
When said Porsche is in fact a GT3 Cup version and said driver is taking part in the 2015 VLN race, things become even more clear. And since VLN stands for Veranstaltergemeinschaft Langstreckenpokal Nürburgring (Association of Nürburgring Endurance Cup Organisers), it's safe to assume the driver and the car know that track like the back of their hands.

Well, somebody must have changed the track's layout overnight - or even between this and the previous lap - as the driver clearly loses control of the car coming out of a turn.

If life gives you slippage, you make the most of it - in this case, you pull a manual-perfect tete-a-queue that saves both the day and the car while also keeping your dignity intact.

It could have been a lot worse. Since this is controlled racing we're talking about, the integrity of the driver was never put at risk, but the car could have suffered serious damage. And bear in mind these are not teams the size of the Formula One giants - ordering a new Porsche body isn't great news for the team's accountant.

But even worse, somebody else might have gotten hurt. No further than March this year, a driver lost control of his car coming into a corner, the nose of the vehicle lift off and the car skidded into the turn in a vertical position. Hitting the guardrails, it immediately flipped over and rolled a few times before onto the outside grass. Unfortunately, one spectator was fatally injured that day.

This incident never really had the potential of turning into something so serious, but it's worth remembering that no matter how interesting the action is there, try not to watch any race sitting in a turn. Or, if you have to do it, always sit on the inside and always pay attention to what's happening on the track. After all, that's why you're there, but it might also save your life.
