Social networks are not only popular among Internet users but also for companies or large corporations from around the world that try to establish a close relation with their customers. And carmakers have paid more attention to this virtual environment in the last years, some of them launching contests or advertisement campaigns on the Internet.
Porsche decided to honor its Facebook fans in a pretty unique way: it created a special edition 911 GT3-R that has the signatures of no less than 27,000 users from the company's social network account on its body. The car, which is powered by a 4.0-liter 6-cylinder petrol engine with a maximum power of 480 hp, will be displayed at the company's official museum in Stuttgart.
"The Porsche fan community on Facebook reached a magical milestone at the turn of the year when Porsche added its one-millionth fan on Facebook, one of the largest and most popular social networks on the Internet," the company said in a statement for the press. "The 911 GT3 R Hybrid was chosen for this extraordinary signature-gathering campaign because it impressively embodies the future of motorsport - with Porsche Intelligent Performance."
For those of you who didn't know, the Porsche Museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with admission for adults priced at EUR8, while children up to 14-year old benefit of a special free admission programme when accompanied by an adult.
