While the US is facing heavy winter issues these days, friendlier weather doesn't necessarily bring peace among keyboard warrior tribes. Let's take the case in the image above, for instance.
When a Porsche 911 Cabriolet, regardless of the generation, drives through what appears to be moderate rain with its top down, you should expect the internet to go crazy.
After this image landed on Reddit, conflicting opinions started flying around. It didn't take long for people to trace down the driver of the Porsche: this Cabriolet was driven in Geneva, "on Route de Saint-Julien just before the TPG [the Swiss capital's public transport] station."
The driver's umbrella reminds us of the Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster's hopelessly impractical soft top, which required two people, six hands and expert-level Yoga classes to install, this is a 997-generation Neunelfer, which means there's a little button inside the Sportscar that will put a roof over your head.
We see two main possibilities here and we'll start with the one that involves the driver of the car relying on what can be called the open-air driving effect.
Given the aerodynamic ways of many convertibles out there, you can drive through the rain with your roof down and not get too much water inside the car, given your speed is above 30-40 mph, the rain isn't extremely heavy and the aero profile of your car doesn't bring turbulence that begs to differ.
However, the 911 Cabriolet may have experienced a malfunction, in which case we still need other details that are obviously missing before we can point our finger at the driver for running the Zuffenhausen machine.
And while people out there on the world wide web are enumerating the possibilities, we prefer to stare at this admittedly special image of a 911. While hoping the cabin was less than soaked once the drive was over.
