While LaFerrari is Maranello's most expensive production car up to date, the €1.3 million ($1.68 million) price tag is no match for Pininfarina's Sergio. If the barchetta goes beyond its current concept car status, that is.
And that's not exactly impossible, as the Italian company is already considering finding some very rich and eccentric costumers for the Geneva-introduced Sergio. The price? €3 million ($3.9 million), which means that the Ferrari 458-based spider will be at least two times more expensive than the LaFerrari!
"We are considering a very limited run of five to six units," Pininfarina CEO Silvio Angori told Automotive News Europe, while chief designer Fabio Filippini added that "we already know how and where to modify the Sergio concept car to make it into a compliant, street-legal model".
The very limited edition could explain, at least in part, the insane price tag, but will they gather enough orders to build "five to six" models? We've seen Pininfarina fail before with the Cambiano Concept.
As mentioned earlier, the Sergio Pininfarina lies on Ferrari 458 Spider's underpinnings and offers a 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) of just 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 199 mph (320 km/h). Any takers?
