With the imminent reveal at the Paris Motor Show, Peugeot’s 208 GTi is already getting an official special edition, of which only 54 will ever exist. It will be available alongside the standard car, as of May 2013, with UK pricing starting at £20,495, which is around £1,500 more expensive than the regular version - only 29 will be brought to the UK.
The number 29 symbolizes the number of years since the original 205 GTi was launched, back in 1984, a car Peugeot hopes to conjure up images of, with the new car. However, while this may all sound very nice indeed, the Limited Edition will be mechanically identical to the standard GTi, featuring only some extra kit, a numbered plaque, sat-nav, DAB digital radio, special pearlescent white paint and Carbon Onyx Black alloys.

It would have been nice if Peugeot would have made an even hotter version of the car, but let’s just hope the regular GTi will be good enough to please both regular buyers and car critics alike.

autoevolution will be attending the Paris Motor Show 2012, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
