French automaker Peugeot is reportedly working on a special edition 208 GTi model that will celebrate Sebastian Loeb’s record-setting run at the 2013 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
Based on the already available 208 GTi model, the Pikes Peak Edition could be launched with an extra 20 to 30 HP for a final output of 220 to 230 HP. Although there figures are far from being impressive, the Pikes Peak Edition should improve on the standard GTI’s 0 to 100 km/h time of 6.8 seconds and top speed of 230 km/h.
As a reminder, French driver Sebastien Loeb smashed the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb record by a driving a race-prepped Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak from start to finish in only 8 minutes and 13.878 seconds, improving the previous benchmark by one minute and 33 seconds.
The 208 T16 Pikes Peak race car is powered by a twin-turbo V6 engine that produces a massive 875 hp, delivered to all four wheels. It has a power to weight ratio of 1-to-1, which means it also weighs 875 kg.
