Peugeot LCV Range Gets Euro V Diesel Engines

The range of light commercial vehicles from Peugeot will come with a range of Euro V diesel engines introduced progressively, the French manufacturer announced today. It will debut with the new engines in the 207 and Bipper van ranges, with further Euro V engines to be added during the next twelve months.

Taken separately, the Peugeot 207 sees the introduction of two Euro V HDi diesel engines into the range. The first is the HDi 70 with CO2 emissions of 110 g/km and the second is the HDi 92 which emits 115g/km. With the introduction of the Euro V engines the first year VED reduces by GBP75, compared to the old Euro IV model, to GBP125.00 for vehicles registered by December 31, 2010.

The Peugeot Bipper van is now available with a new 1.3 litre HDi 75 diesel engine and Stop-Start technology. The introduction of this new engine with stop-start further improves the Bipper with CO2 emissions of 109 g/km and 68.2 mpg (3.45 l/100km). The introduction of the HDi 75 engine also results in the vehicle’s payload increasing from 610 kg to 660 kg.

Peugeot is not the only manufacturer introducing Euro V diesel engines across its light commercial vehicle range, as Ford has also done the same with the FiestaVan and Transit Connect models.

Moreover, there is also improved engine power introduced for diesel FiestaVan models. Additionally, all Stage V engines will now have a Variable Nozzle Turbo (VNT) that boosts low end torque, improves driveability and also reduces emissions.

Other manufacturers are expected to follow the wheel tracks of these two automakers.
