Petter Solberg to Switch to Peugeot in Rally Greece

Although he scored an impressive 2 podiums in his 5 outings in the World Rally Championship this season – something that he hardly managed to achieve even when he was competing for Subaru's works team one year ago – Norwegian champ Petter Solberg admitted he might renounce the Citroen Xsara ahead of Rally Greece.

The 2006-specification Xsara featured some important updates for Rally d'Italia last weekend, but the 3rd place finish apparently didn't fully satisfy the former WRC champion. Solberg initially finished the rally in 4th place, but was later promoted to the last step of the podium following a 2-minute penalty handed by the Italian officials to reigning world champion Sebastien Loeb.

Having scored his second podium of the season this way, Solberg argued that he wants a car that can really finish on the podium rally after rally, regardless of what happens to other competitors. Although reckoning the improvements made on the Xsara, he revealed he is likely to replace it with a Peugeot 307 in Acropolis.

It was good event for me and for the whole team. We have been fast many times, and third place makes up for the one we lost in Argentina,” said Solberg.

I feel stuck in the corner. I have done a few rallies now and I know where I am. We are going to have this question, me and Phil, and see what we can do for the next rally. It will be the same temperature on the next rally, we have to really think - I don’t want to waste time,” added the Norwegian driver.

Solberg is currently 5th overall in the WRC standings – despite missing the season opener in Ireland – only one point behind brother Henning.
