Petrov Hits Out at "Bad Educated" Alonso

Vitaly Petrov voiced his disagreement over Fernando Alonso's gesturing following the season finale Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. After being held behind the Renault driver for almost three quarters of the race, the Spaniard eventually had to settle for 7th place and, in the slow down lap, gesticulated angrily at his Russian counterpart.

Although his initial post-race comments directed at Alonso were not very critic, the Russian arguing that anybody would have felt frustration when losing the world title like that, Petrov piggybacked on the Abu Dhabi events in an interview with Spanish sports newspaper Marca. And the words he had for the Ferrari-an were anything but nice.

The gesturing only showed his bad education. I always follow the rule that if you are sad or disappointed, keep it to yourself. I did my race and he did his. This is a job and I want to do my best,” said Petrov.

Petrov defended brilliantly from Alonso after the Spaniard made his pit stop and, with a sole exception when the Spaniard almost passed him but afterwards ran wide, was not in danger of losing his position until the chequered flag. He eventually finished the race in 6th place, his second best classification in the 2010 campaign.

In fact, Petrov was not only racing for a good place at the finish line, but for a continuation of his F1 career, at Renault. In fact, this particular performance helped his team's managers reevaluate Petrov's stay at Enstone for the future, as the F1 rookie is currently in the running for a 2-year extension with the squad.
