Making its debut at the Paris Motor Show right now is the second model of Toyota’s new Auris range. The car is called the Auris Touring Sports and it’s a wagon body style. Wagon represent 25% of the C-segment mix, and Toyota hopes this premium wagon will stand out with its full hybrid powertrain.
The styling of the car is very similar to the regular Auris 5-door at the front. The big changes are at the back, where a long boot has been added. The shape of the side windows tapers towards a point at the back, a feature seen on shooting brakes recently.
To the rear, the Toyota Auris Touring Sports features a new bumper and tailgate design. The lip of the liftgate is 80 mm (3.14 inches) lower than on the hatchback to give increased practicality.
As you can see, the car shown in Paris has beautiful chrome grilles, aluminum rails on the roof and huge panoramic roof, all great features for this otherwise boring market segment.
Toyota will offer the Auris Tourer with petrol, diesel and hybrid power trains, the latter being a first in this segment for the European market. The estate model will share the engine range with the Auris, meaning a 1.4-liter turbo diesel, 1.33-liter and 1.6-liter petrols. More details will follow closer to the launch date.
