Pagani Zonda R Takes to the Track in Monza

The first video of the Pagani Zonda R is now available for all of us to see and... enjoy. The shooting took place at Monza, during the first track testing session the car went through.

Although we are sure the guys at evo.co.uk did they best to capture the car in such a way that will really make us get goosebumps, the video is a little disappointing. Apart from the first sequences, when the purebred race engine is ignited (and what a wonderful sound it makes!), the rest of the almost three minute long video is as exciting as reading a Chinese dictionary.

That does not mean we don't love the car. We would have liked however to see more of the 48-valve 6.0-litter V12 engine propelled racer. As we reported early this month, the engine puts out 750hp and has a maximum torque of 710Nm. Harnessing the power is the job of a 6-speed sequential gearbox from XTRAC, which also runs the big Pirelli P Zero rear 335/30/20 tires.

Together with the front 255/35/19 tires, the Zonda R bursts from zero to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds. What you can enjoy in the video is the 1,070kg carbon fiber body. It is perfectly visible in the close-ups, but you will not be able to see it when it speeds along the track. And this is not due to the fact that it goes so fast.

It's true, it can reach a top speed of 350 km/hour and maybe it even did that on the Monza track, Its just that, no matter how many times we watched the video, we still missed it. The test was made on a wet track, so the first pictures with the Zonda R in action are a little bit blurry.

No doubt, there is more to come. The car screams “speed', but this is the exact thing this video deprives us of. We anxiously await the moment we can enjoy more of the Zonda than we did in this cigarette break long teaser.
