Telegram is currently one of the world’s most popular messaging apps, so when the latest update dropped support for CarPlay, it goes without saying quite a lot of people were impacted.
Often referred to as the top alternative to WhatsApp, Telegram is growing bigger and bigger, and one of the features users out there love the most is support for both Android Auto and CarPlay.

But the update to version 7.3 on iOS devices made it impossible to use Telegram on CarPlay, as the app was removed from the home screen without a way to bring it back. Opening the CarPlay menu in iOS settings and trying to activate Telegram didn’t work either, as the app was just missing from the list.

This is why many believed the Telegram team did this on purpose, despite the release notes actually not including any information in this regard.

The good news is the whole thing is just a bug, and developers have recently acknowledged it, listing this report as a known issue. In other words, they know it’s happening and are actively working on fixing it, most likely with the very next Telegram update.

When exactly this fix is supposed to land is something that’s not yet known, but on the other hand, there’s a good chance a new Telegram update goes live this month.

In the meantime, Telegram still works just fine on Android Auto, so it’s pretty clear the parent company doesn’t want to give up on support for the car interface.

Telegram has already announced several major updates for 2021, especially as its adoption has skyrocketed in the last 12 months due to more people looking for alternative ways to stay in touch with their contacts. In addition, the company is also planning to introduce new monetization options in the app, including non-invasive ads that will start showing in certain menus.
