OnStar Donates $250,000 to the Fraternal Order of Police

The ties the companies in the GM group have with law enforcement and military personnel in the US have long become a natural state of being. The American manufacturer has even developed a special purchasing method and program for the soldiers and their families, a system that has done wonders for both the car maker and the beneficiaries.

This time, however, the attention of one of the major companies in the GM group, OnStar, has turned towards law enforcement officers, or, more precisely, the families of those who have fallen in the line of duty.

OnStar announced a $250,000 donation to the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) during the 29th Annual National Peace Officers' Memorial. FOP, an organization of sworn law enforcement officers in the United States, has over 325,000 members organized in 2,100 local chapters

OnStar is a service provider that relies on law enforcement agencies for some of the products it offers, ranging from the anti-theft measures for cars and ending with the vehicle crash data used to train.

OnStar is a partner for several government agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC)

“At OnStar, we would not be where we are today without the good work and life-saving skills of first responders and other emergency services personnel,” OnStar President Linda Marshall said. “Our 15-year relationship with this community allows us to deliver the 24/7/365 industry leading-safety and security service that we offer to our customers.”
