An integral part of Volkswagen since 2002, the Touareg launched alongside the Cayenne at the Bratislava plant in Slovakia. 17 years on, more than a million examples of the breed have been produced and Volkswagen is extremely proud of the Touareg’s milestone.
The first generation ran through 2010 when the second arrived on the PL72 vehicle architecture. The third and most recent Touareg switched to the MLB, and it’s twinned with the likes of the Audi Q7, Q8, Bentley Bentayga, and Lamborghini Urus. Volkswagen no longer sells the gentle giant in the United States for some reason or another, choosing the Atlas to do the Touareg’s bidding in this part of the world.

Turning our attention to the ONE Million special edition, the anniversary model “has an impressive range of exclusive equipment” according to Volkswagen. The list starts with 20-inch Bogota wheels, which can be leveled up to 21 inches and the Suzuka design in Adamantium Silver. Sechura Beige paintwork is optional, but the ONE Million badging on the B-pillars is standard.

Puglia leather upholstery wraps the contoured seats with olive leaf extracts, and the visual drama gets even better with the Amber Brown diamond stitching. This motif can be found on the steering wheel, gear lever, and dashboard panel as well, and the cabin gets even more luxurious thanks to Silver Wave trim.

The Innovision Cockpit is standard as well, and pricing for the ONE Million starts at 80,880 euros in Germany including value-added tax. The pricing applies to the V6 TDI with 210 kW, which works out at 286 metric horsepower from 3.0 liters of displacement. An eight-speed automatic transmission does the shifting, complemented by 4Motion all-wheel drive.

When equipped properly, the third-generation Touareg is much obliged to tow up to 3.5 tonnes of whatever you fancy. The biggest change from the previous models, however, is the sheer attention to detail and digitalization of the luxo-SUV from Bratislava.
