Nissan Cube Reached Its 3rd Generation

Coming from a tree of highly successful first and second generations, the newly revealed model features a full redesign of the iconic “cubic” style, that adds a higher level of refinement and polish from inside to outside. On the inside, we note highlights such as a jacuzzi patterned cabin layout, a “skylight” style sunroof with comfy cushioned seats that give a “lounge” like atmosphere, rear seats with a raised “theater”-style position and the usual navigation with some new features and gadgets such as “Intelligent Key” system for anti-theft protection and a rear view monitor.

In addition, the cabin is designed to give a feel of ample space with an all-round visibility, large  rear quarter  and side windows, and large door openings allowing big rear seat headroom and knee room. The Cube's power train will feature an optional all-wheel-drive system, employing a highly fuel efficient low weight power unit of 1.5 litre capacity which is said to produce "impressive" performance. All Cubes that will be equipped with the AWD system will feature as standard a XTRONIC CVT (Constant Variable Transmission) “flappy pedal” gearbox with Adaptive Shift Control (ASC).

One of the major improvements concerning the new Cube is an increase in fuel-efficiency as a result of the improved aerodynamics which Nissan say, and we quote: “increase fuel-efficiency by two percent in the high-speed range (compared with the previous Cube)”. Sales of the new Cube will begin on November 26 on the Japanese market, with a following of North America and Europe in the spring of 2009. Other global markets should also be reached until the fall of 2009.

No prices have yet been announced for the North American or European market, but in Japan, the 2WD model will boast a price between 1,449,000 - 1,911,000 yen depending on the options list and for the 4WD version the price will be between 1,687,350 - 1,928,850 yen, a price difference of 238.350 yen between the basic 2WD and 4WD model (all prices include tax).
