Can you say GTI with an Australian accent? Do it right now, because you're probably going to hear a lot about this hot hatch in the Land Down Under.
The Mk7 Golf GTI has finally made it to this market and to celebrate, VW Australia sent it out for a test drive on roads that included many of the famous Targa Tasmania's racing stages.

The new GTI is only available as a 5-door and it's a AU$10,000 markup on the most expensive Golf, the 110TDI Highline. For $45,988, you do get a new and much more efficient 2.0 TSI 220 PS engine with BlueMotion technology. But if you want DSG, expect to pay at least $48,566.

Standard kit is good, with 7 airbags, autonomous braking, 18-inch Austin alloy wheels and Discover Media audio and satellite navigation system.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
