If you were wondering if Volkswagen was going to put its own badge on the Skoda Rapid/Seat Toledo, you should wonder no more, as they have already done it, and the result is the China-exclusive Santana sedan. It is based on the same PQ25 architecture, and it is even built alongside the Chinese version of the Skoda Rapid.
The car is priced from between 84.900 yuan or €10,300 and 123,800 or €15,000, and the basic version is powered by a 1.4-liter petrol engine, with 90 hp. For those willing to pay more, there is also a 1.6-liter unit, with 110 hp, as well as an optional six-speed automatic gearbox.

From a styling standpoint, it looks exactly the same as the Chinese-market Jetta, except for the grille and some other minor details, and we have to say that it is one of the most boring cars we have ever seen, and while we may understand the philosophy of VW’s simple design, this is taking it too far, even for a ‘low cost’ car like the Santana.
