German automaker Volkswagen has announced that the new Golf Variant 2014 can now be ordered with the 4Motion all-wheel drive system in Europe.
Priced from €24,400, the Golf Variant 4Motion can be had with either the 1.6-liter TDI engine that delivers 105 HP and 250 Nm of torque or the more powerful 2.0-liter TDI unit that's rated at 150 HP and 320 Nm of torque. Both versions are equipped with a six-speed manual transmission.

When fitted with the trailer hitch, the Golf 2.0 TDI 4Motion provides a towing capacity of up to 2,000 kg at a 12% slope, while the Golf 2.0 TDI 4Motion can tow up to 1,900 kg at an 8% slope and 1,700 kg at a 12% slope.

According to Volkswagen, the 1.6-liter version averages only 4.5 liters/100 km, 18 percent less than its predecessor, while the 2.0-liter variant needs an average of 4.8 liters for every 100 kilometers. German pricing for the 1.6-liter version starts at €24,400, while the 2.0-liter variant has a starting price set at €29,075.
