We liked Sheepo’s work with the scale Land Rover Defender 110 so much that we decided to delve deeper in his work, and found a whole bunch of information on what is probably the coolest custom LEGO build ever.
This is a replica of the new Porsche 911 in Convertible form, or at least that’s what the designer says it is. We don’t really care about what sort of modern Porsche this resembles, because the drivetrain is the amazing part, not the body.
A huge amount of engineering went into this LEGO Porsche, a fact evident in the seven-speed gearbox, which has two banks of gears, just like a real PDK would.
Elements like the folding roof, the door latches and the handbrake lever that actually works, show this is no ordinary RC project based on LEGO parts. Other details include fully functional hood, retracting spoiler, working disc brakes and all wheel drive with three differentials.
The Lego Porsche 911 is powered by 8 motors, and also has 3 Remote controllers, 3 IR receivers, 3 pair of lights and almost 7 meters of wires.
To build it, Sheepo put together no less than 3,500 parts and the end product weighs 3.65 kg of LEGO magic. Who says this is for kids!
