BMW AG CEO Norbert Reithofer just talked to the media about the company's plans and one thing caught our eye. He said that "2013 and 2014 will see 25 new models reach the market. Ten of them are completely new."
That says a lot about what BMW intends to do and about the plans it has with the new UKL platform that will bring about the first front-wheel-drive Bimmers and a completely new set of MINIs.

Talking about new MINIs, according to carsales.com.au, the British brand will replace the Coupe and Roadster with brand new sports cars. These would be fitted with a 2-liter turbocharged engine and will be codenamed F58 and F59.

Whilst most of the media took it like a replacement, we think this is actually a different take on the matter. We think that MINI is just planning to bring 2 new models to the market and not replace the two cars.

Since the Coupe and Roadster are the least selling cars in the MINI line-up at the moment, a complete rework was bound to happen. Furthermore, these new cars will also be available in S and JCW variants so things are going to get very interesting.

We already like the way MINIs make you feel around tight bends, just imagine how a 2-liter TwinTurbo Roadster will make you feel. If the rumors will be confirmed, the cars will be based on the Vision concept and that is just music to our ears.
