After being announced in America a day ago, MINI's new Seven model has been paraded by the UK press team as well. It's the same car as before, the only difference being the placement of the steering wheel and the engines available.
You can order the MINI Seven as a 3-door or a 5-door hatchback with a choice of four different engines. In addition to the Cooper and Cooper S that were previously mentioned, we also have the D and SD models. For those of you who don't know, the D comes with the same 1.5-liter 3-cylinder setup as the Cooper but packs only 116 hp. As for the SD, this 2-liter engine blends economy, torque, and 170 hp.
Unlike the American version, the British MINI Seven is available straight away with prices starting at £18,545 OTR for a 3-door or £19,145 for the MINI 5-door Seven.
The Seven model takes its name from the 1959 Austin Seven that eventually gave rise to the Mini car brand. With one eye on the past, the company has designed its special edition model in Lapisluxury Blue, or what it calls "the most intensive blue tone ever applied." Three other body finishes from the MINI paint range are also available to choose from; Pepper White, Midnight Black, and British Racing Green.
Exterior highlights include the 17-inch wheels with a Seven Spoke two-tone design, racing stripes in silver and a standard silver roof. Inside, the transformation continues with sports seats in the fabric/leather finish Diamond Malt Brown, designed exclusively for the Seven.
If you want options, know that they too have been tailored to this special edition. The MINI Seven Chili offers customers MINI Yours features such as the Lounge Leather Upholstery in Carbon Black and the MINI Yours Steering Wheel in Walk Nappa leather with a waxed hand stitched seem. The pack also offers additional features which are unique in the supermini segment, including LED headlights and cruise control with brake function.
Your first chance to see the Seven in the flesh will be at the Goodwood Festival of Speed from June 23. But orders can already be placed at dealers everywhere.
