New Generation Bentley Arnage to Use Audi Q7 Diesel Engine

Rumors surrounding the luxury car manufacturer Bentley have always claimed that the company plans to switch to diesel engines for its luxury sports models but we no official confirmation ever arrived. Until now. 4wheelsnews.com today reports that the next generation Bentley Arnage may incorporate the V12 diesel engine currently found on Audi Q7. To refresh your memory, this particular units puts out a maximum power of 500 hp with 1000 Nm or torque.

Beside the diesel powerplant, Audi will continue to provide the power petrol engine which will be offering either the same power as the current Arnage - 507 horsepower - or the output of the Brooklands Coupe - 530 horsepower.

A different piece of rumors issued earlier this month claimed the upcoming Arnage will rely on the same chassis as the next-generation Audi A8 and is expected to arrive on the market in late 2010 or early 2011.

Once again, there are no officials details sourced from Bentley at this point but the aforementioned source explains all the information came from a British Audi importer which shows us there might be some truth behind these words.

There are several flavors of Bentley Arnage currently available on the market, as it follows: Arnage T - max power of 500 bhp (373 kW), 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and max speed of 290 km/h -, Arnage R - max output of 450 bhp and top speed of 270 km/h - and Arnage RL - 450 bhp with maximum speed rated at 270 km/h.

Although not confirmed, the next generation Arnage will likely make use of fuel consumption reduction technologies as well as specific systems aimed at cutting carbon emissions.
