New Caterham Model Coming

It seems that 2010/2011 will be a decisive period in the history of British performance vehicles. After Lotus shocked the world at this year's Paris Auto Show, showing a face that nobody though would belong to the company, it is now time for Caterham to bring an important change.

The pure driving machines maker recently announced that it is preparing to introduce an all-new model. Just like Lotus did before the Paris event, Caterham promises that the new model will mark the debut of a new era.

However, unlike Lotus, Caterham has chosen to continue worshiping the lightweight god. This means that the future vehicle will use the same DNA as its predecessors.

"British sportscar maker, Caterham Cars, will introduce an entirely new model to its line-up at next month’s Autosport International Show. The latest addition to the renowned Caterham stable marks the beginning of a new dawn for the Company, but one that remains true to the lightweight, minimalist DNA of the legendary Seven and will complement its continuing global success," stated the press release.

Judging by the automotive producer's press release, which tells us that the car will come with a Caterham Motorsport engine and uses words like "racing" and "portfolio," we'd say that the upcoming four-wheeled creation will be a track-only animal. However, we'll have to wait and see.

"Powered by the next-generation Caterham Motorsport engine, the model will provide a logical expansion to the Company’s racing and track day portfolio and open an exciting new chapter in its future," stated the press release.

Fortunately, the wait won't be a long one, as the new model is scheduled to come to the world on Thursday, January 13, 2011, at the Autosport International Show, NEC, Birmingham.
