In today’s PR and marketing world commercials seem to play a very important part. However, unlike several years ago, the ones we’re watching on TV these days are more complicated and suggestive than you might think at first.
The new X1 is hitting showrooms around the world as we speak and, as we expected, the car is receiving its deserved share of attention. That being said, there are a couple of new commercials that will be airing on TV stations around the US pretty soon and they are just as funny as they are suggestive.

The first one shows us an angry girlfriend probably breaking up with her (currently) ex and returning his stuff. While it may seem like just a mean thing is happening here, there’s more to it than meets the eye.

You see, BMW made it one of its central points to offer more space inside the X1. That’s why they migrated from a RWD to a FWD setup and they are emphasizing this with the amount of stuff the girlfriend throws out of the car and onto the pavement.

Of course, as they go on to show, the car is also supposed to exhibit its dynamic performance in the ad, showing how easy it is to ... throw stuff out.

The second ad puts the emphasis on the run-flat tires the cars are now coming with by using a brilliant take on how football fans around the world act right around this time of the year.

In it we see the USC Trojans mascot driving a BMW X1 when a warning light shows up on the screen telling him that the rear left tire is a little low. Getting out of the car to check it out he realizes that he’s in deep UCLA territory. Since he has run-flats on, of course he can just get away in a hurry. Nice take on the whole matter but we’re rather curious to see how the fans of the two football teams react to it.
