New BMW M5 Goes Sideways on a Skid Pad, Burns Some Rubber

If you are like us, then you probably can’t stand another day of wait for the BMW M5. There’s the new engine, better looks, new gearbox and the possibility of four-wheel drive to consider, but what all of you are probably thinking right now is going sideways in a big four-door saloons with four tailpipes.

We know how that feels, so we are going to ease the pain of waiting by showing you the latest video from the M division, showing the F10 M5 burning some rubber and getting really sideways on a wet track. The Bavarian firm’s high-performance sedan is being tested at the company's Miramas proving grounds in the south of France, ahead of its debut later this year.

Given the fact that the M5 will show its face at the Frankfurt motor show in September, there is not a lot of time left, but the Bavarians are never good at cutting corners. So the performance saloon is put through its paces to check that everything from the traction control, to that new engine and gearbox are working as they should.

We even get a look at the car’s interior, which BMW has kept sacred secret until now. The instrument panel features the same sort of design we’ve grown accustomed to, while the speedometer on the left that goes all the way up to 330 km/h and the tachometer on the right that stops at 8,000 rpm. This is amazing stuff we are seeing from the 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that is expected to deliver as much as 580 horsepower.
