The new BMW F82 M4 Coupe will have a gruesome job ahead of itself: it will be the replacement for BMW's most loved car, the M3 Coupe. However good this new car will do, the shape, feel and character of all the previous M3 Coupes will never be forgotten.
As awesome as it might turn out to be, the M4 Coupe will have to work hard in order to be regarded as a true M3 Coupe replacement. The current E92 M3 already has a legendary status, even though just 7 years passed since its release. It is the only M3 that was fitted with a V8 engine that has such an outstanding power output.

Rumors say that the engine that will power the new M3 and M4 will be based on the current N55 engine fitted on the 335i F30 3 Series and will have around 420 HP. In order to achieve this impressive number, the 3-liter engine will be turbocharged, making this new model the first one ever to be equipped with a turbo.

However, the new cars will be faster and more agile than the previous generations due to new technologies and lightweight chassis. We can notice in the new spyshots that the M4 Coupe will have a bonnet bulge much like the old M3 had, 4 tailpipes integrated in the rear diffuser and a slightly more aggressive front end.

The front bumper's shape carries a striking resemblance to the M5's design and has almost the same air intake positioning. Also the hood has character lines going from the kidney grilles back to the windscreen in almost the same fashion as the F10 M5.

Another interesting detail is the presence of what seems to be full LED headlights on the M4. We now know that the 4 Series Coupe will have these as an option and that could mean that the M4 might get them as standard.
