Audi’s R8 supercar has recently received a facelift, but this is the kind of transformation that means most people need a reasonable amount of time to spot the body or cabin changes between an “old” and a “new” model placed next to each other.
The most important changes brought by the revamp are an extra clutch for the paddle shift gearbox, as well as the migration of the most hardcore R8 version from a special edition to a series production model.
Audi has recently launched a commercial that features both of the aforementioned features. This showcases the new R8 Plus, which replaces the R8 GT limited edition and includes the vehicle’s new S-Tronic double-clutch gearbox that takes the place of the R-Tronic single-clutch automated manual.
When fitted with the aforementioned S-Tronic gearbox, the R8 Plus temptress seen in the footage above is capable of dealing with the 0 to 62 mph sprint in 3.5s and, if the driver insists, it will hit 317 km/h (197 mph). It also comes with matching stopping power, as it offers standard ceramic brakes.
