Most off-roading enthusiasts are now talking about a new model: the Toyota 4Runner. It has received a new generation featuring modern amenities, and it will compete with the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler starting this fall.
In the design department, the 2025 Toyota 4Runner looks like an evolution of its predecessor, albeit with more muscles in all the right places. We can dare say it is a more appealing proposal from a design perspective, boasting numerous fresh amenities inside, too, including a large central screen in the upper specs, or a smaller one should you pick a lesser variant.

Toyota's new 4Runner comes with two powertrain options. The first one is a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 278 horsepower (282 ps/207 kW) and 317 pound-foot (430 Nm) of torque. The second is a hybridized 2.4L unit with a 1.87 kWh battery that enjoys 326 hp (331 ps/243 kW) and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm). Both have an eight-speed automatic transmission and part-time or full-time 4x4, yet the former comes with standard rear-wheel drive and optional 4WD.

With departure and approach angles of 24 and 32 degrees, respectively, a 9.2-inch (234 mm) ground clearance, the unique suspension setups of the TRD Pro and Trailhunter, a two-speed transfer case, limited-slip differentials, and a few other bits and bobs, this model is capable of taking on the great outdoors, and with the proper tires on its feet, conquer some steep trails.

Toyota says the new 4Runner will go on sale this fall nationwide. No pricing details were disclosed at the time of writing, but given that its predecessor came from just over $40,000, we expect the 2025 model to be a bit more expensive. The range-topper may kick off from roughly $60,000 or perhaps a bit more. In due course, we will learn everything about the Benjamins and what each trim level offers.

We also expect some tuning companies to add a few aftermarket upgrades to their shelves for the 2025 Toyota 4Runner. Look for the usual lift kits, additional underbody protection, snorkels, trail lights, fat tires wrapped around the new alloys, winches, and so on. For now, it was the digital tuning fairy who paid a visit to this ride, giving it a set of new wheels with a six-double-spoke design and meaty tires hugging them.

These renderings came from kelsonik on Instagram, who also gave it a shot at imagining this model recently, and we've got to admit that the pixel manipulator did a great job guessing the design, as the CGIs were very close to reality. So, do you like the new 4Runner better on stock wheels, or do you think it is prettier in these unofficial CGIs? And is this model your next 4x4?
