New 2009 Calendar from Pirelli

Mixing art with nudity looks like it's been the company's main preoccupation when producing the already famous Pirelli calendar for the coming year. The novelty can be seen online but, unfortunately for enthusiasts who already planned to decorate their kitchen door with it, the calendar cannot be purchased as its availability is restricted to certain important customers and celebrity VIPs that are going to receive it as a corporate gift for the holidays.

As for its singularity, we can mention artist Peter Beard's contribution in coming up with the idea of using half-naked models being "tortured" by some sort of giant insect on the face (just as poor Isabeli Fontana had to suffer), drenching themselves in algae-covered watering holes, playing the savage's dance or draping themselves over elephants. Apart from Fontana, the impressive model cast also included Mariacarla Boscono, Malgosia Bela, Lara Stone, Daria Werbowy, Kemp Muhl, Rianne Ten Haken and Emanuela de Paula.

The prestigious calendar was shot somewhere in Botswana, in the stunning Okavango Delta more precisely, by Beard himself and because they didn't want to attract protests from animal protection organizations, the photos are classified Zero Impact which implies that no harm was done to either the animals or environment.

Still, we can not help asking why did those models accept such a disgusting thing? And what's even more important, why did the photographer chose this concept for a calendar that's going to be a Santa Pirelli present? In fact, it doesn't even sell tires...

Thanks to Photoshop, Fontana didn't need to cry for real in the final image of the calendar. Yet, the experience she's been through was certainly not a very pleasant one. And now, who dares say models have an easy work to do? All uncensored pics from the 2009 calendar can be drooled over here.
