Need For Speed Rocks the Charts

Thanks a 100,000,000
! That about sums up what you are about to read here. 16 years after the release of the first version and 13 releases later, EA can sit back, relax and proudly say they have achieved something few game developers can claim: sell 100,000,000 units of their creation. Mind you, this is what the official records say, but we are sure there are countless millions others which use cracked version...

Want a quick sum up of what the game managed to achieve, according to EA's data? 27,961,666,725.3 miles of road driven (that's 44,999,940,574 km - we're not sure how accurate is this, but it is impressive...), 2,488,567 races (again, how do they count them?), 479 partners (that's those who allow EA to use their car designs for you to smash) and, of course, trillions of customization.

Of course, the count continues, but we will let you enjoy the video below to see them all. Well, as Robin Ritchie, from Carleton University and Kyle Murray, University of Alberta School of Business said in the beginning of the year, when the automotive industry was beginning to feel the grip of the crisis, the road to salvation might pass through your computers... Why? "50 percent of gamers are more likely to buy a car that is present in the game." Not sure about that, though... Remember all the bankruptcies this year?

OK, so how does EA plan to reward the faithful gamers?

"We’re giving away EA Store discount codes for 25% off any Need for Speed title – including SHIFT and NITRO – to our Facebook fans. All you need to do is leave a comment in the Notes tab below before October 29th and we’ll get back to you with your code," EA says.

Further details about the promotion can be found by accessing this link. We would like to tell you more, but we just got our hands on the Shift, so...
