Dear Corvette enthusiasts, we’re very sad to report that a 40-foot (12-meter) sinkhole that developed inside the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky swallowed eight sportscars.
The unfortunate event occurred overnight, with leading museum authorities to discover the sinkhole that developed in the museum’s Skydome at 5:44 AM. According to an official statement released by NCM, the Bowling Green Fire Department arrived on the scene and the museum was closed for the day.
Six of the cars swallowed by the sink hole were owned by the museum, while the other two, a 1993 ZR-1 Spyder and a 2009 ZR1 “Blue Devil” were on loan from General Motors. A 1962 model, the 1 Millionth Corvette, the 2001 Mallet Hammer Z06 and the 1.5 Millionth car were also affected by the incident.
